Amy’s approach to counseling involves entering into an authentic relationship of trust and respect with the client. She values and honors each person’s right to make their own choices and set their own goals, so that they are given the opportunity for self-awareness, change, healing, and growth.
Amy is trained in many schools of therapy, and utilizes a variety of approaches and techniques, and she adheres to an eclectic approach according to clients’ needs. Some of her preferred modes of therapy are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Psychodynamic and Narrative Therapies.
Due to her extensive cross-cultural experience, Amy enjoys working with people from different nationalities, and has experience in a variety of presenting issues. She works with a special focus on areas of depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse, relationship concerns, addictions, adjustment to life and/or cross cultural transitions, anger management, family relationships, and premarital counseling, among other presenting issues.
